Switzerland Summary
Let’s learn more about the opponents of Brazil in the Group stage of the 2022 World Cup!
Switzerland boasts an impressive qualification record and is a team to be respected in the World Cup. The nation has made nine of the last ten major tournaments, a level of consistency that is to be admired.
For the Swiss, memories are still fresh of last summer’s EURO 2020 victory over France.
Qualifying was impressive and further increased the expectancy and belief in the camp. Both they and Italy were unbeaten and defensively strong, but Murat Yakin’s side took the top spot.
They were less consistent in the Nations League but importantly, finished it with a confidence-building run of performances and results. Despite losing the first three matches of the Nations League, Switzerland rallied to win the final three that included a 1-0 over Portugal and a 2-1 win in Spain.
The mood is noticeably confident and focused. They believe that they should be the team that progresses from this group along with Brazil.
Manager Yakin has no injury doubts or absences and can send out his best team.
Cameroon Summary
This will be the eighth World Cup appearance for Cameroon which is more than all other African nations. They aren’t the highest rated from the continent, but despite being considered the outsiders in their group, expectations back home are high.
Cameroon will be determined to better previous World Cup outings where they felt they never did themselves any justice. All matches ended in defeat at the 2010 and 2014 tournaments. The desire in Qatar is to defy expectations outside of Cameroon, and progress into at least the last 16.
Cameroon settled for a 1-1 draw with Panama in their final preparation game. The mood is positive in training and there is real hope they can qualify behind Brazil in this group.
Looking at team news for the coach Robert Song, who has everyone fit and ready. His starting eleven was leaked to the media after a photograph of his tactics sheet was shared. There is of course now a chance the XI is altered to avoid any advantage for the opponent.
Napoli player Franck Zambo Anguisa was the last man to join up but is expected to play despite only arriving last Thursday.
Betting Analysis
Looking at the 1×2 market first, where the favourite for this game is Switzerland to get a victory @ 1.74. For punters happy to oppose the respected and consistent Swiss, the draw can be backed @ 3.60 and a Cameroon win is @ 5.25.
Moving onto the Asian handicap market for this contest. For favourite backers, they would need Switzerland -0.75 @1.98 to win by at least two goals for a full payout. A narrow one-goal victory would see half the stake returned as a winner, at close to odds-against price.
Cameroon +0.75 get a near 1 goal start @ 1.950, a draw or better returns a full win for punters.
Looking at The Under/Over market last of all. Interestingly, the line was cut down from 2.5 and is now taking bets on 2.25. This indicates that punters in general are not expecting an open match. Over 2.25 is 1.95 while Under 2.5 is @ 1.87.
